Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide
It’s time you added Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to your bucket list. The amazing views, the delicious foods, the beautiful culture, and home to one of the seven wonders of the world. This travel guide will give you the ends and out to have a great trip.
This year for my boyfriends 35th birthday I decided to take him to Brazil. It has become a tradition of ours to gift travel for our birthdays. It’s a time for us to relax, unwind, spend uninterrupted quality time together, explore a different culture, try and enjoy new foods, and add a stamp to our passports.
While we went during a time when visas were not required starting April 10th, 2025, US citizens will be required to purchase visas to travel to Brazil.
Traveling to Brazil
From Philadelphia, there were no nonstop flights. I decided for us to get a 2 for 1 out of the travel and spend the day in Miami where we had a layover. We checked the bulk of our luggage so all we had was my purpose and a semi-empty carry-on suitcase in case we made purchases in Miami and Brazil. Our flight was about 2 and a half hours from Philadelphia to Miami allowing us to arrive around 11:30 am just in time for Brunch. We ate, did some shopping, ate again, and shopped a little more. (we rolled around a carry-on bag that we brought for extra items). We departed Miami at 11:00 pm and arrived in Rio De Janeiro at approximately 6:30 am. Clearing customs took less than 5 minutes the longest time spent in the airport in Brazil was walking to customs.
Where to Stay
On this trip, because of the distance, I wanted us to be able to explore two different areas of Rio de Janeiro. We stayed 3 days in Barra da Tijuca and 3 Days in Copacabana.
Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro
This Hilton was located in Barra da Tijuca, a beautiful area but quite different from Copacabana. The views of the mountain here were immaculate, nothing I’d ever seen before. Waking up to that site daily was amazing. This Hotel did have a shopping mall directly across from the parking lot. From this location, we did have to Uber to the beach and the restaurants. But it was a very calm area to stay in.
JW Marriot Rio De Janeiro
This hotel was in the perfect location in Copacabana, directly across from the beach. Now, I will be honest and say this entire strip is filled with hotels, so if you are brand loyal to a hotel, I’m sure it was available on the strip (Fairmount, Windsor, Hilton, and many more). The two hotels that seemed to be a little more secluded and not as much walking distance of the shops, bars, and restaurants were the Sheraton Resort and Hotel of America.
While this is not considered a beachfront resort the beach is directly across the street. The Hotel provides beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, and water daily for their guests. You just need to provide your room number. There is a rooftop bar and pool for the days you don’t want to go to the beach. The restaurant was on-site, and a lobby bar was available. Overall, it was a great stay here.
Things to Do
Well start first in Barra da Tijuca
City Tour – the price was about $45.00 per person for the tour we used, however, they can range from from $40.00-$150 which includes round trip transportation, tickets to Christ the Redeemer and the train, tickets to Sugar Loaf Mountain, and a Brazilian Steakhouse Full Lunch. Please know this is a full-day tour. Pickup was early and drop-off was around 6:00 pm. You can book at either the company we used or through another full day in Rio tour company with amazing reviews.
Christ the Redeemer –located in the Tijuca National Park the 98 feet Statue of Christ is placed, known as one of the 7 wonders of the world. An amazing site. This is accessible by both stairs and elevators. This monument is wheelchair accessible. You can access this on your own, however with the guide we walked straight through.
Maracana Stadium – Opened in 1950 to host the World Cup, this stadium is the largest in the country, and for many years it was the largest stadium in the world.
The Metroplitan Cathedral of Saint Sebestian – An iconic landmark in Rio de Janeiro, a beautiful spiritual architect.
Sugar Loaf Mountain- a Mountain peak that sits approximately 396 meters and gives you amazing views of Rio de Janeiro. The cable car rides up the mountains allow you to see a bird's eye view from above. You can enjoy lunch, snacks, and shopping at the top of the mountain. This mountain view gives you many amazing photo opportunities.
The Selaron Steps –A famous tourist site, with colorful steps that are said to be a tribute to the Brazilian people. Lots of street vendors and souvenir shops are located around the steps.
Boat Trip Ilha Grande Bay Day Tour – Blue Lagoon (Natural Aquarium of Ilha Grande), Cataguases Island, Sant’anna Beach (sand beach), and Japariz Beach (sand beach) Full-day tour with transportation. The pickup locations are quite far from the boat dock (approximately 2.5 - 3 hours so be prepared to sit). The cost was reasonable, about $245R or USD 43.00. This included transportation from and to your hotel, a boat trip, and a buffet-style lunch. Extras cost for drinks and snorkeling gear.
Tijuca National Park - Urban national park located in the beautiful mountains of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with beautiful views, and access to caves and waterfalls it’s definitely a place you want to see. Tours are available but access to the park is free and accessible by uber or taxi however, service is bad up the mountain so I’d suggest a tour or paying to have the taxi/uber wait for you.
Places to Eat
Cavalo Marinho Beach Club – Beachfront restaurant
Paris 6 – Italian
Bibi 1993 – Super fresh acai bowls and smoothies, crepes, desserts, and fresh salads
Brahma – Beach hut restaurant with live music.
Restaurante Marius Degustare – Brazilian Seafood and Steakhouse.
Transportation
Our primary mode of transportation was Uber. Our Ubers were extremely inexpensive. I’m talking about $2.00-$3.00 for a 15-minute ride. Even the taxi services were reasonable. We took a taxi from one side of Rio de Janeiro to another with a stop in between which made it over an hour ride for around $20.00, insane. I say this to say don’t rent the car just Uber to wherever you want to go.
What to Know
The local language in Brazil is Portuguese. A few people from Columbia speak Spanish, but English is not widely spoken. We relied on Google Translate and the limited number of English speakers we met to get by.
Here are a few phrases you should practice and know
Portuguese - English
Bom dia - Good morning
Ola - Hi
Por favor - Please
Obrigado/a - Thank you
De nada - You’re welcome
Sim - Yes
Nao - No
Com licenca - Excuse me
Não falo português - I don’t speak Portugues
The local drink here is Cachaça, a distilled spirit made from fermented sugarcane juice. and Caipirinha is the local Brazilian cocktail, with cachaça (sugarcane hard liquor), sugar, lime, and ice.
Things you need
International Adapter to charge phones and other electronic devices
Bug Spray The mosquitos were very lively here.
Quality Suitcases to make sure your items are transported safely
Safety
While I felt safe here, I did meet a couple that had a gold chain stolen off their neck on their walk back from dinner. The people in the hotel will advise you that gold chains are a target here, so to avoid any trouble I’d suggest just leaving that at home or in the hotel room.
On the beach there are locals everywhere selling things, constantly walking up with a speech to get you to purchase something. They are nice but can be a little aggressive in talking, if you don’t wish to purchase just say Obigado and don’t make eye contact and they will move on.
6 Appointments You Need Each Year
Focus On Your Health
Maintaining our health is so important. There are various ways we should take care of and check in with our bodies to make sure all is well. We should do things daily to ensure we are being proactive with our health. There are also some appointments you should prioritize yearly to check in with your body.
Please remember if something feels off with your body or health write it down, if it persists call the doctor, if it continues get a second opinion, and a third and fourth if need be. You know your body better than anyone else PLEASE advocate for yourselves and your loved ones.
Daily
Some things we can do to take care of ourselves daily:
-Brushing our teeth and making sure to use an effective mouthwash/oral rinse
-Taking a daily multivitamin either in liquid or pill form
-Washing your hands! I hate to say it, but no people still don’t do it.
-Wiping down high-touch areas with disinfectant wipes cellphones, keys, doorknobs etc.
-Drinking water, my Stanley cup helps me stay on track with my daily water intake
-Eating fruits and vegetables daily
Now onto things that can help us stay healthy or bring awareness to a health problem.
Annually
There are 6 appointments that are important for you as a woman to schedule and attend annually
Yearly Physical/Wellness Visit – This visit is a basic appointment for your doctor or nurse to check in on you. They will check your weight, height, and blood pressure, listen to your heart, investigate your ears, feel your breast for lumps, and update any necessary immunizations. This appointment hopes to assess any issues so that there are minimum medical concerns in the future.
Dentist – Should be going at least 2x a year. This appointment is to stay on top of your oral health, which plays a role in many other body areas. Your biannual dental visit helps to prevent, diagnose, and treat any oral concerns.
Gynecology – OBGYN – An annual visit to the OBGYN can Regular screenings and exams, STD testing, ultrasounds, chance to communicate about pains and period flow, they can help with answering any questions or concerns that you have
Optometrist (Eye Doctor) - The purpose of visiting the eye doctors is to check your vision, and to also diagnose and treat to see if corrective action is needed for you to see clearly.
Dermatologist – The skin is the biggest organ of the human body. Taking care of our skin plays a part in so much more than our health; it plays into our confidence and our daily routines. The benefits of visiting a dermatologist include recommending prescriptions, treatments, and procedures to help improve the overall appearance of your skin. Whether you suffer from dry skin, acne, or eczema, all this can be addressed with a visit to the dermatologist.
Nutritionist – Seeing a nutritionist is much more than what people think “DIET” A nutritionist can help you figure out how to eat to live, address unhealthy eating habits, meal planning, weight loss, digestive issues, gut health and so much more.
Most insurance will cover 100% of these visits, especially for the first time around, and dental twice a year. Ladies, it’s so important for us to take care of our bodies. If they ask if you want a test run say yes. It’s better to know anything early and be proactive to make the needed lifestyle changes. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy life.
Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal Treatment Journey
Laser Hair Removal Journey
I’ve suffered from unwanted hair growth above my lip (mustache) for many years. It caused a lot of insecurities within me and jokes among other people. My hair growth was fast (I couldn’t get the hair on my head to grow as fast as my upper lip hair was growing). It was to the point I was going to get lip waxes every week, then to even purchase a wax kit for myself at home. I was spending well over $100 each month on waxes (monthly Brazilian waxes, paired with monthly eyebrow waxes, and then on to weekly lip waxes). After plenty of research and a free consultation paired with a free session, I decided to move forward with my laser hair removal journey. Best decision ever!
Keep reading, I hope to answer any questions you may have and explain a little of my process during my laser hair removal journey with Milan Laser.
What is Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal is the process of permanently yet gently removing hair. The laser targets the hair root without doing any damage or breaking to the skin. The root where the hair is grown is destroyed causing the hair not to be able to grow back
Cost
Laser Hair Removal is an investment. It takes time and money, however over time you realize how much money you save over your lifespan, and you get to see the results of the laser removal. My total was about $4,000 now before you completely run away let me explain how it worked out for me. Ally Lending offered a 0% APR for 36 months (3 years I paid mine off in about 2). So, my monthly payments came to around $96.00 a month and I just paid extra when I could. They also offer a significant discount if you're willing to pay for your treatment in full. Milan Laser offers frequent family and friends discounts so if you ever decide just say Arielle sent you. This comes with a lifetime guarantee for if or whenever hair decides to come back.
Locations
They have so many locations throughout the United States. I’m personally located in Northwest Philadelphia, and I have about 3 locations that are 20-40 minutes away. The convenient part about the multiple locations is if you are near one location and need an appointment, they will allow you to make an appointment at that location for treatment.
Timeframe
Laser hair removal is a process and to see results you must be committed. Typically, laser hair removal treatments are scheduled 6 weeks apart (sometimes 4 weeks for facial hair). You begin to see the results after about the 4th session. Depending on your hormones and hair texture will determine your number of sessions. 6 –10 sessions are about average if you’re consistent in your appointments.
In the beginning, I was going every 5-6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) as recommended. Then life happened and it became about every 90 days (about 3 months) while results never stopped it just means that additional sessions are required because of my inconsistencies.
I’m on 9th session now and the hair is almost nonexistent in the Brazilian area and about 70% gone on the upper lip area. Had I been more consistent I’m positive I’d be done with treatment by now.
Skin Tones Variations
As a woman of color my major concern was does it work on brown skin tones. This was one of my main concerns and the major reason it took so long to dive into this process. I had no issues, no redness after appointments, no scars, absolutely nothing after each session. I will say this if you have areas with blond hair unfortunately, they won’t perform the laser removal because they cannot guarantee results where blond hair is present due to its inability to be picked up on the laser machine.
Session Expectations
Come with the area of service shaved. The nurse may have to do a slight touch up but that is perfectly fine. Each session is about 15-30 maximum depending on the number of treatment areas you have. You’ll check in, someone will escort you to the service room where you will remove your clothing, and place a towel, along with some glasses. The nurse will come in verify your information, ask about your recent sun exposure, test shots will be done and then your session shots on your treatment area and you're done. You’ll go to the front desk, make your next appointment and continue your day.
Number of Treatments
The average number of treatments is usually between 8-12. However, this number varies based on several things, hair length, coarseness, area size, your consistency with keeping appointments, hormones, sun exposure to treatment areas, and other things that may vary from person to person.
Limitations
After an appointment, they ask that you not be directly in the sun and apply at least 50 SPF sunscreen every few hours.
Don’ts
You are not allowed to pluck or wax the areas between sessions. You can shave as much as you’d like, and they ask that before each session you come in completely shaved or to the best of your ability (Sometimes shaving the Brazilian area you may miss a few spots). Try your best not to have direct contact with the sun. They will NOT treat any tanned or sunburned areas for your safety.
Overall Experience Thoughts
I love the results of my Laser Hair Removal. I would do it repeatedly. I think it was well worth the investment and with the lifetime guarantee, I’ll save so much money. The process is so smooth and it’s little to no pain. The newer lasers are amazing with the cool air you barely feel anything. Me and my nurse just have a casual conversation and before I know it, we’re done. If you’ve been contemplating it go in for a free consultation and a free session to see if that’s something you’d want to do. The convenience of not having to schedule monthly waxes and not having to worry about shaving. Laser hair removal is well worth the commitment. If you decide to give it a try let me know how much you loved it.
Feel free to ask any questions about my experience or laser hair removal in general.
Dutch Wonderland: A Family Fun Experience
This year Dutch Wonderland celebrates its 60th birthday. So, last weekend, my family and I went to Dutch Wonderland to celebrate my niece’s 6th birthday. We had an absolute blast at the amusement park. We spent the whole day riding different rides, playing games, and eating pretzels, ice cream, and fries. The highlight of the day was definitely seeing all the children in our family from the ages 2- 10 have a blast together and enjoy the park. Overall, it was a perfect day of affordable family fun and we can't wait to return again soon. If you're looking for a fun activity with your little ones, visiting Dutch Wonderland Family Fun Amusement Park is worth considering.
We live in the northwest section of Philadelphia, PA and the ride was about an hour and 20 minutes. A straight drive. Dutch Wonderland is in Lancaster, PA which is also known as Amish Country so you’ll drive past a few farms and grasslands, yard sales, horses, and buggies sharing the road, it's a really interesting site. Helps you to be reminded of simple living.
This area has so much to do the cartoon network hotel with an indoor water park is directly next door, they have a campground if you and your family have an RV, the Tanger Premium Outlets are across the street, Golden Coral, Texas Roadhouse, IHOP, lots of local diners and so many more restaurants that are about 1-5 minutes away. After you tire the kids out at the park you have your choice of where to eat to end the night if you don’t take advantage of the eateries throughout the park.
Dutch Wonderland Park Details
Children 2 and under are free.
They have a really strict bag policy. Cooler bags can be an of 12 x 12, personal bags can be a maximum of 15 x 15, however, diaper bags are an exception. Bags are checked at the door and a ruler is used to measure size.
They have 19 different food, drink, and dessert eateries throughout the park including Auntie Anne’s, Rita’s Water Ice, Nathan’s Famous, an all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta buffet, and so much more.
Duke’s Lagoon is a Water Play Area, they have a number of slides, water play activities and water fountains for the children to run through it’s a fun area but please note there is no pool. There is also a water slide or I’d like to call a sprinkle slide called The Pipeline Plunge because it doesn’t soak you so if you want to just ride without being soaked this is for you.
Ample restroom locations throughout the parks.
Nursing Mother’s Station
The rides are structured by gems which are based on height, they allow riders under 30” on a number of rides throughout the park.
3 Entertainment Theaters that produce multiple shows a day.
33 rides throughout the entire park.
Rain Guarantee- if it rains for more the (1) hour consecutively causing some ride closures, you have the opportunity to ask guest services for a single day admission per ticket for another day during that current season. (Ticket stub paper or email is needed to verify).
A variety of seating areas, picnic tables, benches, and chairs to sit throughout your time at the park.
Wheelchair and stroller rentals are available on-site.
Things you should know
Tickets are cheaper online so buy them ahead of time, and look for a special on two or more tickets. If you plan to go more than once the season pass is worth it.
They offer discounts for Military and First Responders.
They are cashless make sure you have a working debit or credit card or you can use a kiosk to transfer money to a prepaid card at a small cost.
Plan ahead the cartoon network hotel tends to sell out. There are several other hotels within a 2-minute radius.
You can re-enter the park as long as you get your hand stamped.
They offer preferred parking right next to the entrance for an additional $5.00 it’s worth it.
Bring towels for the water play area.
Sunscreen is important
Even in the heat, with the uncertainty of the weather, my first visit to Dutch Wonderland was a fun experience. From the variety of rides for all ages to the layout of the park. I was impressed by the park's cleanliness and the friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure that my family and I had a good time. If you're looking for a fun-filled day with family or friends, especially children 2-8, I highly recommend visiting this amusement park. It's truly a place where memories are made.
Plan ahead, arrive early, and enjoy all the rides, shows, and play that Dutch Wonderland has to offer.

Party Planning Guide: The Ultimate Checklist For Your Next Event
Planning a party/event can be STRESSFUL! Recently I planned my 30th birthday party (brunch/day party). Planning a party can be an event in itself. While I had the absolute best time, that didn’t come without some stress. So I’m here to supply you with a simple planning guide to help your next event go off without a hitch.
Let’s get started……….Once you’ve established you are having an event the first thing to do is establish a date. This is important because it helps to wean out venue selections. Now if you are open to various dates that gives you more options. Date Set? Now it’s time to seek out venues, pricing, and timing. Contact potential venues for a walk-thru and ask all the possible questions about your event or what you are looking for in the potential space. Keep reading and I will provide you with some sample questions to ask your venue host during the viewing that will aid in your planning proceess.
Questions to ask the venue
What is the seating and standing capacity?
Are tables and chairs provided? If so ask to see the chairs. (Regular folding chairs may disrupt your decor vision so be mindful)
How many tables/chairs can be provided?
Can you bring in your own food/ provide your own caterer? (sometimes places have in-house catering you have to use)
Is alcohol permitted?
Is smoking permitted?
Are candles/sparklers allowed?
Are there any noise level restrictions?
How much time is given for setup?
How much time is given to clean up?
How much per additional hour?
Is there parking? (Street parking, Parking lot, valet, metered parking)
Depending on how far out you planning the event, you may need to combine some things. This breaks things down into monthly tasks. If you are doing this in a short span of time it’s definitely feasible don’t panic. I planned my party out in about a month.

Puerto Rico Travel Guide
Where I stayed in Puerto Rico
I stayed at The Royal Sonesta San Juan in Isla Verde. Approximately a five-minute drive from the airport.
Resort: The Royal Sonesta
Rooms- The rooms were nice and spacious, newly updated, and equipped with a full mirror and a stocked mini-bar. The room of choice was the oceanfront view on the 15th floor, while there is a balcony it’s small and is standing room only, but the views are immaculate.
Service- Everyone I encountered was extremely friendly and nice. Anything we had a question or concern about we were assisted quickly.
Restaurants on-site- There are a few restaurants onsite details below.
Akua Bar - Swim-up pool bar open during the weekend Friday-Sunday.
La Bodeguita – Lobby coffee shop, serving light breakfast, lunch, and snacks, open daily from 6:00 AM – 12:00 AM.

Things to do

Lip Balm
Sneakers/Walking Shoes
Water Shoes
How to get around
Our beachfront resort was right on the strip walking distance to a number of bars, restaurants, casinos, other hotels, small clubs, CVS, cold stone, and other things that you may need.
We mostly traveled by Uber and the maximum cost per ride was around $20.00, with the majority of our trips ranging between $5.00 and $12.00. Depending on where you choose to go ziplining the uber will likely be a little more, due to the distance of the excursion being 35- 40 minutes away. Please note they don’t have LYFT here.
Unless you plan on going out far and visiting other cities in Puerto Rico a rental car is not necessary, but if you prefer to be at your own leisure then I'd suggest renting one but be mindful of the parking fees at the hotels they have both valet and self-parking at most hotels in this area starting around $25 per night.
NOTE: They have bird scooters all around so if you are up for an adventure it’s definitely a fun, low-cost way to get around.
Puerto Rico Airport Notes:
If you don’t have TSA precheck or CLEAR arrive early anywhere from 1.5-2 hours early to get through security.

Creating a holiday budget helps you to stay on track with your spending. Allocate funds from your check each month to a holiday savings account. Purchase all your gifts only with your saved money in this account. This will help you stay on budget and not scramble for the money when you need it. I use a PayPal savings account that takes $35 from each pay and puts it in a holiday fund. And the icing on the cake is the APY is 3.25% so I’m actually making a tiny bit of money while my funds just sit there waiting for me to use them. If you need an online savings account or a secure payment center I highly suggest PayPal (PayPal Referral Link). If you open an account and spend your first $5 you’ll end up making $10 for being a newly referred member.
2. Cash Back Rewards
Do you have a credit card that you use? Does it have Cash back rewards? If not keep reading I have a referral link for you that gives up to 5% cashback and if you make a purchase in the first 3 months, you’ll receive a $100 statement credit (free money). If you pay with your credit card, as soon as the payment post you should pay off the balance immediately if that strategy helps you stay in control of your spending. For some cards, each month is a different bonus category. For instance, this month on my Discover card I get 5% cash back on all my Amazon purchases and anytime I use my Digital Wallet (Tap to Pay). (Discover Cashback Rewards Card Referral)
3. Rakuten
If you are an online shopper like me, you should definitely use Rakuten. They literally pay you to shop through their site. With different merchants offering anywhere from 1% to 20% cash back it’s the best. The thing that’s even better is you can still use a coupon code it’s like a double dip for saving money. For the holidays, I usually receive cashback for over $100 just from my online purchases for my family and friends. Use my referral code below and they’ll give you $40.00 for making your first purchase of $40.00 through the sit! (Rakuten Cash Back Shopping Rewards Referral)
4. Shopping Cart Abandonment
When you shop online most retailers want you to go through and purchase the items in your cart. So, with that logic, some retailers will make a second attempt at a sale when you leave items in your cart. Within 24-48 hours you can usually expect an email asking if you’re still shopping. The merchant will send you a coupon code via email of anywhere from 5-20% for you to return and purchase your items. Be strategic, if it’s a great deal go ahead and purchase, but if you can wait, let it sit in your cart overnight and see if you get a coupon code in your email. I do this a lot when I’m shopping with Fashion Nova.
I hope these tips will help you to stay on target this Holiday Season. In what ways are you staying on budget?
The Simple Aruba Travel Guide : One Happy Island
This Aruba travel guide will explain everything you need about traveling to Aruba from excursions, things to do, places, to eat and how to get around.
We traveled to Aruba for 5 days and it was the perfect length. We live in Philadelphia and prefer straight flights, so we used the Corporate Blackcar Service to take us from Philadelphia to JFK airport. It was a straight ride, a clean car, and just excellent service. I plan to use this company again. We flew JetBlue, which was extremely reasonably priced, with Wi-Fi, snacks, and charging stations on the flight.
IMPORTANT: All visitors are required to complete Aruba’s Embarkation/Disembarkation Card prior to arrival, which is the country’s digitized customs and immigration process. This is required for each person infants, and children included. The online ED card is linked below. Be sure to have this card available prior to arrival at the airport as you will be unable to board without it. Aruba's Online Mandatory ED Card
Where to Stay in Aruba
We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Palm Beach
Resort: Barcelo’ Aruba
I booked directly through the site which allowed me to gain loyalty points.
If you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort in Palm Beach, I highly suggest Barcelo’ Aruba which is a family-friendly resort without the bombarding of children everywhere. This resort was equipped with 5 restaurants -Italian, Japanese, Seafood, Mexican, and a daily buffet that served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Daily activities in the pool and on the beach each night, along with nightly performances in the lobby bar and a nightly show in the ballroom. They also offer the Royal Level which is an upgraded luxury portion of the resort.

How to get around
Our resort was right on a strip that contained bars, restaurants, a marketplace, and little shops. So, we literally could walk out of the resort and cross the street for a somewhat downtown vibe. To get around we used taxis which were readily available throughout the island. They were on reserve at our hotel and in town, they are taxi stops like bus stops where you go and await a taxi. The maximum we paid for a taxi was to and from the airport which was about $35 US dollars and about a 15–20-minute drive.
Aruba Airport Notes:
If you are traveling from Aruba to the United States, you go through immigration at the Aruba airport prior to boarding the flight. As of October 2022, they are not accepting mobile passports. The security and immigration lines only have about two scanners so please give yourself ample time to get through security to be able to board your flight on time.
Overall, this was a great trip and Aruba has now become one of my favorite islands. The weather during October was perfect for me, not super-hot and with just enough sun to tan if you want or to avoid if you choose.
If you made it to the end, of this blog article I appreciate you for reading it!!! Feel free to leave any comments and I will respond as soon as possible. Are you planning a trip to Aruba soon?

Where to Stay in Turks & Caicos
Turks & Caicos has so many options. Villas, resorts, hotels, beach houses, condos anything to fit your budget.
We stayed at the Neptune Villas which was such an amazing experience they had villas ranging from 1bedroom to 3 bedrooms. Equipped with a full kitchen, washer, and dryer, wrapped porch, walking distance to a small area of the beach, and the famous LaBrissa restaurant which has great food. We canoed and kayaked on the villa grounds.
If you want to be closer to the bulk of entertainment in Turk and Caicos, I recommend staying closer to the Grace Bay area. They have ocean-front resorts and boutique hotels that are quite the sight.

Must-Have Items
How to get around
Public transportation is not readily available here. However, people do walk and bike a lot. Taxis are available but are quite pricey. For those visiting that plan to travel to different areas of the island, I would strongly recommend renting a car from either the airport or a trusted local company. A local company was suggested by our villas staff. The car was dropped off to us for a total of $56.00 a day. (Keep in mind our 12 min taxi from the airport to our villas was $40.00 one-way per person). In Providencia, you drive on the left side of the road. Takes a little adjusting but after a minute in the car, you are bound to get the hang of things.

White Water Rafting
My cousins and I try to remain close, but sometimes life happens, and we don’t get to see each other for long periods. So, to catch up we try to plan events or activity days. This episode on Family Fun Day consisted of White-Water Rafting in Mount Pocono.
POCONO WHITEWATER is in Jim Thorpe, PA if you are familiar with Stroudsburg, Easton, or Allentown PA it’s toward that direction. From the Germantown area of Philadelphia, the ride was approximately 1hr 15mins with no traffic.
We did the Family Style WHITEWATER perfect for beginners which many of us were. Gentle rapids, designated swimming areas, riverside lunch.
The price was extremely reasonable $65.99 for adults and $54.99 for children. This activity is open to children of 4 years and older. If your child does not care for the water, I would not recommend bringing them.
This activity demonstrates teamwork and cooperation, it's a great team-building exercise. HEADS UP- choose your raftmates wisely as this will come in handy when it’s time to steer in the right direction when the tides pick up and the huge rocks appear.
The weather was perfect, and you have lots of opportunities for water fights and races with the other rafts in your group. Along the way, you have the opportunity to get out of the raft and enjoy the designated swimming areas.
At your designated time you check in, sign a waiver and get into your attire, they offer wet suit rentals, and they have life vest available for everyone. A short information session is held in which your tour leaders go over all the rules and regulations and how to navigate the tour. After your information session we load onto a few buses and head down to the river. The bus ride is approximately 15 mins.
*They have sealed buckets available for you if you want to pack your lunch FYI the riverside lunch included pork hotdogs, macaroni salad, lays chips, and a peanut butter and jelly station. We brought lunch meat, tuna, salad, chips, lemonade, and water.
Wear water shoes or bring your crocs and put them into sport mood and you're good to go.
We had so much fun. I encourage everyone to step outside of their normal weekend activities and try this.

ORLANDO FAMILY VACATION
As a family we haven’t been on vacation in years. Some of my siblings started to have children, others have funky work schedules, and then with covid we just couldn’t get it together. With my niece’s 5th birthday approaching. ( inserts tears), my sister and I decided to kickstart her celebration by heading to Orlando to do DISNEY!!!
There was a total of 9 of us. 7 adults and 2 children ages 4 and 1. Take a read below to hear how our trip went and a few details that could help you when you plan your trip to DISNEY.
Flight Time: 2 hours and 10 minutes Philadelphia-Orlando. I flew spirit and had no issues at all. Round Trip-$136 with a checked bag each way.
Day 1: I arrived late my family had already gotten the rental, checked in the house, went to dinner, and were chillin by the pool once I arrived.
Day 2: We ventured off to see what was around. There was a Publix about 6 minute drive from our house. We decided to enjoy the house and have a pool party. We cooked out with hot dogs and hamaburgers, some cocktails, listen to music on the speaker , laughed and played cards.
Day 3: DISNEY WORLD me and the girls loaded the van up and headed to Magic Kingdom. I think 5 and up is the perfect age for this park, the kids know what they like and can enjoy mostly all the rides. Lots of walking and lots of sun so bring your shades, water, and sun hat. The park was really fun, I do suggest getting the lighting pass if you can and also for children who are not use to walking bring your stroller or wagon.
Day 4: We headed to downtown Orlando. We stopped at the Premium outlets and did some shopping, great deals and friendly staff. They had everything from Old Navy to Gucci so whatever your budget is you’ll find something for you. About 10 mins from the outlets was OLD TOWN it had a slight carnival/ theme park vibe vibes mixed with like, bars and restaurants, gift shops, ice cream etc. Directly across the road was the WORLD of FOOD TRUCKs here they had over 40 food trucks with a variety of different cuisines spanish, chinese, america, italian whatever you could think of. This area also had live music, I highly recommend putting this stop on your itinerary.
Day 5: We enjoyed the house and ventured off to the community amenities which was a 2 min drive or a 8 minute walk from our rental home. You are given a badge and they have a full-size pool, lazy river, kids play zone, movie theater, tiki bar, restaurants, massages, cabanas, volleyball, golf, and several other things that as a guest you have all access to.
Day 6: Time to head home. We cleaned, packed, loaded the car and headed to the airport. SHOUT OUT to TSA precheck. A MUST if you travel a lot and even more a must if you have children.
The kids had the best time and we had an amazing time as well being able to relax while also enjoying a different everyday vibe.
Below I listed all the agencies that helped make our trip a smooth success.
Rental Agency: Lost in the Magic https://www.lostinthemagic.com/

Spring Cleaning
Spring has arrived! The start of a new season brings the opportunity to reset, restart, and refocus. So why not apply this mindset to your home, your workspace, and even your everyday life? It’s important for us to clean and get rid of the old and welcome the new. So how do you go about SPRING CLEANING in all areas of your life?
Spring has arrived! The start of a new season brings the opportunity to reset, restart, and refocus. So why not apply this mindset to your home, your workspace, and even your everyday life? It’s important for us to clean and get rid of the old and welcome the new. So how do you go about SPRING CLEANING in all areas of your life?
Read on to look at what SPRING-CLEANING looks like to me and how It’s possible to achieve this inside your home, personally, and professionally.
A new season is here let’s get rid of everything (jk) don’t do that, let’s just liven up the place. A few simple things that can get your house ready for spring at minimum cost.
Home
Dust and clean those baseboards, because you don’t realize how much dust accumulates there and once it’s gone how much lighter your home might look and feel.
Change out your curtains. You can purchase new curtains that aren’t so dark and that will welcome the outside light.
Purchase a new comforter/duvet set. Since spring has arrived you may want something of lighter weight that makes the room look different by switching up the color or design.
Change your kitchen towels, sponges, and dishcloths to switch up the color or design you don’t realize how much something so small can make a difference.
Change the color scheme in your bathrooms. Get new rugs, washcloths, towels, and shower curtains if you’re lucky enough not to have glass doors. Purchase a few artificial plants and watch you be wowed at how they liven up the room. I’ve linked some similar to the ones in my two bathrooms. Mini Bathroom Plants
Purchase a few throw pillows for the couch to add a burst of new color into your living room. I think this year I’ll go green, the sage green color is my favorite right now. These pillows will be some new light to my couch. Sage Green Throw Pillows
Purge your winter clothes and get rid of things that you know you aren’t going to wear again. The Goodwills are always accepting donations (it’s a tax write-off).
Winter is gone and hopefully that means we are finish with the snow. Now that the sun is out longer hopefully your moods will improve and your productivity will increase.
Personally
Reach out to someone who’s been on your mind that you just haven’t had time to call.
Do some self-care activities to help you reset. Daylights saving took me out this year. But to help me relax I’ll go to Solange Beauty Bar for a nice mini facial. (She’s located in West Philadelphia and her IG is @solangebeauty__)
Go through your email and delete things that you no longer need, the coupon code that expired, the newsletter you never opened, the flight promotion that ended. Delete it ALL.
Take some time to go through your shoes thoroughly, get rid of the ones you refuse to wear, that hurt your feet, get rid of the ones that were gifts that you know you’ll never wear, and get rid of those dingy flip flops you been holding on to from last summer.
Go through your sock drawer/ basket and the ones without a match, with a hole, with the bleach stain… Sis it’s time to let them go.
Call your car insurance company and ask them are there any discounts that you qualify for? For those that are working remotely make sure to mention that you’d be surprised by the discount you receive. Lastly, ask them to run your new driver score but only if you haven’t had any accidents or speeding tickets lately. I recently called and saved about $100.00 a month from discounts that I qualified for that weren’t on my account.
Professionally
Go through your work email and answer those emails that you’ve never responded to.
Delete all the newsletter emails that no longer serve you.
Review your benefits, increase what you need and decrease what you don’t need.
Make sure your beneficiary information for your place of employment is up to date.
Get rid of the work clothes that no longer suit you.
This is just a small list of the things that I have done in honor of the spring season. These little changes will allow for a new look the home, more space the closet, and some savings that you can spend on good eats. Hopefully at least one item on this list helps you to spring forward this season.
What are some things that you do for SPRING-CLEANING?
