White Water Rafting
My cousins and I try to remain close, but sometimes life happens, and we don’t get to see each other for long periods. So, to catch up we try to plan events or activity days. This episode on Family Fun Day consisted of White-Water Rafting in Mount Pocono.
POCONO WHITEWATER is in Jim Thorpe, PA if you are familiar with Stroudsburg, Easton, or Allentown PA it’s toward that direction. From the Germantown area of Philadelphia, the ride was approximately 1hr 15mins with no traffic.
We did the Family Style WHITEWATER perfect for beginners which many of us were. Gentle rapids, designated swimming areas, riverside lunch.
The price was extremely reasonable $65.99 for adults and $54.99 for children. This activity is open to children of 4 years and older. If your child does not care for the water, I would not recommend bringing them.
This activity demonstrates teamwork and cooperation, it's a great team-building exercise. HEADS UP- choose your raftmates wisely as this will come in handy when it’s time to steer in the right direction when the tides pick up and the huge rocks appear.
The weather was perfect, and you have lots of opportunities for water fights and races with the other rafts in your group. Along the way, you have the opportunity to get out of the raft and enjoy the designated swimming areas.
At your designated time you check in, sign a waiver and get into your attire, they offer wet suit rentals, and they have life vest available for everyone. A short information session is held in which your tour leaders go over all the rules and regulations and how to navigate the tour. After your information session we load onto a few buses and head down to the river. The bus ride is approximately 15 mins.
*They have sealed buckets available for you if you want to pack your lunch FYI the riverside lunch included pork hotdogs, macaroni salad, lays chips, and a peanut butter and jelly station. We brought lunch meat, tuna, salad, chips, lemonade, and water.
Wear water shoes or bring your crocs and put them into sport mood and you're good to go.
We had so much fun. I encourage everyone to step outside of their normal weekend activities and try this.
